My Story

I was born and raised in the Comox Valley which is one of Canada’s outdoor recreation capitals located on beautiful Vancouver Island on the Pacific coast.

It is perched between the beautiful Georgia Straight and the majestic Strathcona park, placing amazing beaches and mountains in my back yard. I grew up a beach bum and a jock so it is no surprise I combined the two to create a unique lifestyle based on my love for sport and outdoor activity. With amazing parents who both excelled athletically and a younger sister, who is also athletically gifted, I naturally gravitated to playing every sport I could find. With an adoration for competition and a gentle push from my parents, I have competed and excelled in swimming, soccer, tennis, mountain biking, basketball, ultimate frisbee and a personal favorite of Ping Pong.

The environment I was raised in exposed me to all kinds of activities and pastimes. My second sport to Volley is snowboarding as I have been shredding for 14 years. I am pleased to call Mt.Washington my home mountain and do my best to hit Whistler Blackcomb as much as possible, which boasts impressive annual snowfalls and massive big mountain terrain.

I also love road tripping to the amazing and natural Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island to surf and camp whenever possible.

Other pastimes I enjoy are sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, cliff jumping, rock climbing and hiking the outdoors! I also love cooking, reading, camping, listening to all kinds of music and making meaningful connections with people around the world.

After I graduated from Highland Senior Secondary in French Immersion as an honor student, I then took an Associate Degree at Camosun College and started for their nationally ranked team. After winning the BCCAA player of the year in 2004 I transferred to UBC to take Human Kinetics and play for one of the top western Canadian teams at that time. I was then presented with a unique opportunity to play professional Beach Volleyball and jumped at the chance to live my passion around the world on the FIVB Circuit. Without looking back I dove into what is now my full time career.

I have every intention of going back to school once I am finished with beach volleyball to specialize in human performance. I love working with top quality athletes and pushing people to go beyond what they think they are able to achieve. I aspire to use my experience as a world class athlete to advance other athletes on their quest to the top of the podium. My good friend and master trainer Marc St.Jules has introduced me to his personal breed of underground training (The St.Jules Method) which has changed my perspective on neuromuscular and stability training. The human body is an incredible vessel and I look forward to learning as much as I can about maximizing its performance potential.
